The Features of Drupal 8.3.1 and How it Improves the Builder’s Experience

As far as free, open source content management systems go, Drupal ranks high among professional web developers, due to its extensive functionalities, its flexibility to support custom development, and its high level of security.

While Drupal used to unveil updates to their software once in a while, as a major release, they have since changed the way they roll out their updates. Users no longer need to wait for the long awaited major release of new Drupal features, as Drupal now disseminates minor releases, with the intention of providing a more seamless experience for its users to transition to the latest in Drupal versions.

A minor Drupal release, 8.3.1, which was introduced in April of this year, brought with it a number of features to improve the builder’s experience. Here are some of these features:

• Enhanced Content Editing

Drupal’s release of 8.3.1 it came with a newer version of CKEditor 4.6 (enhanced user interface with a modern looking skin), a copy formatting plug-in, which enables quick and easy formatting of content, and an AutoGrow plug-in, which enables the editor window to shrink and expand according to the amount and size of content in the editing area.

• Stable Version Of The Big Pipe Module

The release of Drupal 8 introduced the Big Pipe module, which essentially delivered unchanging page elements directly to web browsers, without delay, and then delivering the rest of the content and dynamic page elements afterwards. The minor update release of Drupal 8.3.1 included a more stable version of the Big Pipe module, along with usability on mobile devices.

• API Improvements

Drupal 8.3.1 included big improvements in the REST and API-first support, along with some additional new features, such as 404 responses being delivered with the reasons behind denied requests, an increase in performance of anonymous REST API and REST user registration (to name a few).

Drupal continues to be a favorite among Developers around the world, and with the delivery of regular minor updates to its software, users can expect Drupal to become further enhanced, in terms of user friendliness and it’s features and capabilities, as a powerful CMS software solution.
